We have celebrated so many public holidays in UAE in 2024 so far. The Emiratis got a lot of time off work for New Year’s Day, Eid Al-Fitr, Arafat Day, Eid Al-Adha, Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, National Day, etc.
And this gave them the chance to enjoy many exciting activities – Sunday brunches, watching the sunrise, taking day trips, and whatnot!
This time, in 2025, UAE will get to celebrate at least 12 public holidays, and an additional day will be given if Ramadan is 30 days long. So, with some advanced planning and a little help from us, you can make the most of these annual leaves and have all the fun you want on your day off!
The Revealed Dates For UAE Public Holidays In 2025
With the UAE’s Cabinet resolution No. 27, we now have the list of 2025 UAE holidays for the public and private sectors. It sets specific guidelines regarding the holidays so that both public and private sectors follow the same calendar.
Total Holidays in the UAE for 2025
There will be eight holidays observed by UAE in 2025 – Gregorian New Year, Eid Al-Fitr, Arafa Day, Eid Al-Adha, Hijri New Year, Prophet’s Birthday, National Day, and day (30) of Ramadan (only if the month lasts for 30 days).
Both public and private sectors will be observing these holidays, so no matter which sector you’re from, you can anticipate your days off well in advance.
The List Of Official Holidays In UAE, 2025
Here are the number of days allocated for each one of the public holidays in the UAE, along with the dates.
- 1 day – Gregorian New Year (January 1)
- 3 days – Eid Al-Fitr (starting from 1 Shawwal)
- 1 day – Arafa Day (9 Dhu al Hijjah)
- 3 days – Eid Al-Adha (from 10 to 12 Dhu al Hijjah)
- 1 day – Hijri New Year (1 Muharram)
- 1 day – Prophet’s (PBUH) Birthday (12 Rabi’ Al-Awal)
- 2 days – National Day (December 2-3)
This means that there will be 12 confirmed public holidays in UAE in 2025! However, you can expect an additional day off if Ramadan lasts 30 days (that holiday will be added alongside the Eid Al-Fitr holidays!) You can also plan an exciting Chand Raat with your loved ones!
What Does The Resolution Say About Public Holiday Transfers, Non-Transferable Holidays, And Additional Local Holidays?
The Cabinet has allowed some of the public holidays to be shifted to the beginning or end of the week. This means that the public holidays are to be aligned with weekends, which ensures better workflow and reduces hiccups in the work schedules. However, this doesn’t apply to the Eid Holidays, as these public holidays are celebrated according to Islamic dates and cannot be adjusted.
But, if one of these public holidays falls on a weekend or overlaps with another, then there will be no rescheduling for it.
For the additional local holidays, local governments can declare more time off, keeping in mind special occasions related to cultural and regional observances.
